Everett Gardner has served on and helped to coordinate the worship team for the 8:45am service at Warren’s Grove since it’s inception in March 2009. He plays rhythm guitar and sings, but enjoys playing bass guitar or drums on occasion as well.
Everett was born on Long Island, but grew up in upstate New York. His family brought him up in the Catholic Church, but when it came time to select a college, he was drawn to a small Free Methodist college called Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, NY. From there he participated in various denominations including Baptist, Free Methodist, Pentecostal, Calvary Chapel, and other non-denominational churches, before settling into the United Methodist church.
At Roberts Wesleyan, Everett earned a bachelor degree with a double major, one in Religion/Philosophy and one in Psychology, in addition to a Ministry minor. While in undergraduate school, he met his future wife, Amanda, who was also majoring in Religion/Philosophy, with a minor in English Literature. They both went on to pursue master’s degrees in School Psychology at Roberts Wesleyan.
As a part of Everett’s diverse interests, music has always played a strong role. He played percussion in elementary through high school and was heavily involved in choirs and musicals. In addition, Everett began playing bass guitar and singing in a band with friends in middle and high school. His love of music continued in college where he help start a Christian rock band, named Index Patient, led worship during the college’s chapel and a weekly Sunday night worship service on campus, played on various church worship teams, and even helped start some youth ministry groups. While in Index Patient, the band released two CD albums and was played on Christian and local radio stations.
In 2006, Everett and Amanda moved to Timberlake, NC after accepting School Psychologist positions with Person County Schools. Their family has grown since then to include two wonderful boys named Nathaniel and Jackson. Everett feels blessed by all the opportunities God has given him to use his interests and talents, and looks forward to all the opportunities to come!
